Position: R&D Engineer
Period: January 2009 – January 2010
During this year I took part in the following R&D activities:
DVB-T2 simulator: As a project with a view to future years, I participated in the design and implementation of a DVB-T2 SW simulator. Due to its speed efficiency, the selected language was C. The whole system, transmitter, channel and receiver, was programmed; and its performance was compared with the standard specification guidelines. Special attention was paid in the DVB-T2 state-of-the-art features, such as LDPC encoding, constellation rotation or PAPR techniques.
Wireless study: In collaboration with Quobis, it was carried out a study of viability about low cost wireless architectures for emerging countries. Several WiFi and WiMAX network topologies were addressed.
I was also an IWSSC 2009 reviewer for the paper: M. Smolnikar et al. “Rate-Compatible Punctured DVB-S2 LDPC Codes for DVB-SH Applications”, International Workshop on Satellite and Space Communications (IWSSC 2009), Siena, September 2009.
